Shiraz greanache and mataro under the umbrella of a great harvest sees this punching into a new level of quality, it's the best Bin 138 to date. There's a very clear blackberry and raspberry interplay on the nose as shiraz leads and grenache dances. On the palate it is more about mataro and the sturdy silky, laid back spread of tannin underpins a generous yet vibrant wine. Lingers with sultry intent, great value. Drink now to 2030.
By Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91
Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2015 GSM Bin 138 offers up notions of kirsch, dried mulberries and Chinese five spice with wafts of lavender and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has plush tannins and tons of spicy fruit, finishing with lingering pepper and cinnamon notes.
Wine Spectator 90
Appealing for the focus and purity, with dark, plush flavors of violet-scented blackberry, black pepper, cedar and plum that are supple and juicy. Shows plenty of focus on the finish. Syrah, Mataro and Grenache.
