M. Chapoutier is a well-known and respected large-scale wine producer in France, with an annual production of up to six million bottles. In 1989, Michel Chapoutier, the fifth-generation descendant, took over the family business. He became friends with biodynamic advocates such as Leroy and Nicolas Joly and began implementing biodynamic practices in the vineyards. This shift resulted in a significant improvement in the quality of their wines.
M. Chapoutier owns approximately 32 hectares of vineyards, with over half of them planted with Syrah. They also cultivate Marsanne, which is used to produce their renowned "Ermitage Blanc" and blended into their red wines. Within the single vineyard of Ermitage, they have been influenced by E. Guigal's "Cote Rotie" La La La, leading to the creation of their Le Le Le wines, including "Le Meal," "Le Pavillon," and "L'Ermite." Ermitage Le Meal Blanc was first released in 1996 and has a production volume of around 5,000 bottles per year. The vineyard consists of nearly century-old vines and produces rounded, full-bodied, and delicate wines.
