In the list of elite wineries in Australia, Torbreck is certainly a prominent name. Established in 1994, Torbreck is the brainchild of winemaker David Powell. After studying winemaking overseas, Powell returned to the Barossa Valley in South Australia to create his own range of wines. The majority of Torbreck's wines are centered around old-vine Shiraz, with vines aged 90 years or more. These wines are known for their full-bodied, rounded structure, complex layers, and refined quality, quickly earning them a place among the world's finest wines. Torbreck has become a representative of modern Australian fine wine.
Even the manga "Drops of God" features Torbreck's entry-level wine, Woodcutter's Shiraz, further elevating the winery's recognition among wine enthusiasts. Crafted from fruit sourced from multiple old-vine vineyards, the wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks, concrete vats, and traditional wooden vats. It is then aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels before bottling without filtration.
Woodcutter's Shiraz is an excellent introduction to the wines of Torbreck, offering exceptional value for its quality. It is highly recommended for those who want to experience the beauty of Torbreck's wines. Australian red wine enthusiasts should definitely give it a try.
