Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 97

This bright, dark ruby-colored wine is exceptional. Its enticing nose reveals extraordinarily refined aromas of a myriad of flowers soaked in cherries, blueberries and traces of sweet mocha. This oily-textured, full-bodied, perfectly harmonious, and compellingly delineated wine could not be any more elegant. It possesses awesome depth, concentration, and purity in its violet and cherry cream pie-flavored personality. Moreover, its formidably long finish displays a strong yet satiny backbone. I predict it will evolve magnificently.

Harmony defined. Full-bodied and without a glitch, here's a red Burgundy so supple it caresses the palate, all the while delivering a mineral, terroir-driven character that's simply spectacular. *Cellar Selection*

Allen Meadows - Burghound 93

The expressive nose now blends notes of both primary and secondary fruit aromas that are nuances but notes of anise, tea, soay and clove. Like many '96s this is not especially dense (though it's by no means dilute) though I do like the intense minerality and delineation of the medium-bodied flavors that are supported by notably fine tannins on the focused and powerful finish that is very well balanced. This is not quite at its apogee though it's close and even when it does arrive at its peak it should hold there for a very long time. Multiple and largely consistent notes though one recent bottle displayed some finishing dryness.
