Suntory started as a small family-owned shop in Osaka and gradually grew into a multinational corporation through hard work and perseverance. Its founder, Shinjiro Torii, opened the first shop in 1899 and faced multiple attempts and failures. However, he never gave up and conducted relentless research. In 1907, he successfully developed Akadama Port Wine, a wine tailored to the taste preferences of the local Japanese population. It became immensely popular and gained widespread recognition.

After achieving success with wine, Shinjiro Torii decided to create an authentic Japanese whisky. In the 1970s, at the foothills of the Southern Japanese Alps, the Hakushu Distillery was established. Today, Suntory's whisky brands from the Hakushu Distillery have gained international acclaim, with each expression making its mark on the global stage.
