El Escocés

Today, Kongsgaard Winery has been passed down through five generations. As early as 1970, John Kongsgaard and his wife Maggy began managing their renowned Judge vineyard before finally producing and selling wines under the Kongsgaard label in 1996. Their wines were quickly recognized for their quality. John Kongsgaard has since become one of the top winemakers in Napa Valley, boasting over forty years of winemaking experience. In his younger years, he gained acclaim for crafting unfiltered Merlot and Chardonnay at the renowned Newton Vineyard in St. Helena.

The Kongsgaard Chardonnay has received high praise from Robert Parker, who described it as a wine akin to the Holy Grail: "coveted by all, matched by none, rich in flavor, perfectly natural, the greatest American wine ever." Particularly, The Judge, a revered cult wine, has an annual production of only two thousand bottles, making it a collector's item. It consistently scores between 97-99 points, with the 2013 vintage even achieving a perfect 100 points. Achieving a perfect score of 100 for a white wine is no easy feat, making this wine a rare gem that has remained highly sought-after for many years.
