Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret's history can be traced back to the 16th century in 1620 and continues to stand strong in 2025. In 1945, after the union of Eugene Mongeard and Edmee Mugneret, the estate was officially renamed "Mongeard-Mugneret." Currently, the estate has been passed down to the ninth generation, managed by Vincent and Anne. Mongeard-Mugneret owns around 30 hectares of vineyards, predominantly located in Vosne-Romanée, including premier cru vineyards like Richebourg, Grands Échezeaux, and Échezeaux.
Current owner Vincent Mongeard places strong emphasis on the importance of moderate extraction. The proportion of stems in their premier cru wines ranges from 40% to 100%, and the percentage of new oak barrels used is adjusted based on the vintage. The aging period typically lasts between 18 to 22 months, with no fining or filtration before bottling. From grape cultivation to winemaking, the focus is on showcasing the intricacies of the Pinot Noir grape. This results in Mongeard-Mugneret's wines being delicious and enjoyable at a young age, with aging adding even more complexity and flavor.
Even Robert Parker acknowledges: "Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret's wines possess a broad, rich mid-palate texture, along with enticing, sweet Burgundian aromas."
