Suntory started as a small, family-run shop in Osaka, and through perseverance , it grew step by step into a multinational corporation . The founder, Shinjiro Torii, opened his first store in 1899. Despite numerous trials and setbacks in the early stages, he never gave up and continued his relentless research. In 1907, he successfully developed Akadama Port Wine, a wine blended to match the tastes of the Japanese people . It gained immense popularity and became widely renowned.

After his success with wine , Shinjiro Torii decided to embark on creating an authentic Japanese whisky .

In 1923, Torii, together with Masataka Taketsuru, known as the "Father of Japanese Whisky", began building Japan's first malt whisky distillery—the Yamazaki Distillery (山崎蒸溜所). This marked the creation of Japan's first truly authentic whisky brand 🇯🇵.

The maturation process for Yamazaki Whisky involves the use of mizunara oak barrels, crafted from a rare Japanese wood that embodies the essence of Japan's unique natural environment. This gives Yamazaki Whisky an irreplaceable and distinct position in the world of whisky.
