Certan de May

Chateau Certan de May, also known as Chateau Certan de May de Certan, is a renowned winery located in the Pomerol appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux, France. It was originally part of Vieux Chateau Certan. Prior to the French Revolution, it was owned by the De May family. In 1858, due to concerns about the impact of the revolutionary wars, the owner of Vieux Chateau Certan decided to sell the estate, keeping only five hectares, which became Certan de May, also known as "Petit Certan." This led to the presence of several Certan wineries in the Pomerol region.Although the vineyard of Chateau Certan de May is small, covering only five hectares, it is surrounded by prestigious and well-known neighbors such as Petrus, Vieux Chateau Certan, Lafleur, and Le Pin. Despite its size, Chateau Certan de May has gained a reputation for producing exceptional wines. The estate's vineyards benefit from the unique terroir of Pomerol, characterized by gravelly and clayey soils, which contribute to the elegance and complexity of the wines.
