【🇨🇳Chasing Dragons in China with Lafite Rothschild🐲】

Domaine de Long Dai is the first Chinese winery established by the French Lafite Rothschild Group in the Qiu Shan Valley of Penglai, Shandong Province. The name "Long Dai" symbolizes the fusion of exquisite jade craftsmanship ("Long") and the majestic Mount Tai ("Dai"), representing a blend of local terroir and expert winemaking. The winery spans 34 hectares of terraced granite soils.

A key distinction between Shandong and other major Chinese wine regions is its maritime climate. Unlike the extreme continental climates of inland regions like Ningxia or Xinjiang, Shandong's winters are milder due to the proximity to the Yellow and Bohai Seas. This allows the vines to remain above ground year-round, eliminating the need for labor-intensive winter burial (a necessity in most northern Chinese vineyards).

Long Dai produces two wines: the flagship "Domaine de Long Dai" and the second wine "Hu Yue". The wines are noted for their elegance, minerality, and complex fruit profile, often featuring a blend that includes the Marselan grape, which contributes unique floral and spice notes. The longer growing season fosters balance, resulting in wines that are often described as elegant and refined.
