The winery belongs to a very young Burgundy estate, established only in 1987 in Nuits-Saint-Georges. However, despite its relatively recent establishment, the winery boasts vineyards with a long history. Although the estate is only a few decades old, it exclusively owns three plots, which we call "Monopole." This term refers to a vineyard exclusively owned by a single winery or wine merchant, unseen in other wineries. These Monopole vineyards include "Clos du Chapeau, Clos de l'Arlot, and Clos des Forets St Georges." In 1991, the winery further acquired Romanée St. Vivant.
In the 18th century, the estate was developed by its then-owner, Jean Charles Vienot. He built a stone wall around the estate, naming it Domaine de l'Arlot. After changing hands several times, it eventually came under the ownership of AXA Insurance Company, leading to the estate's revival. After years of neglect, the vineyards were painstakingly restored by multiple generations. Currently, Geraldine Godot, a microbiologist and winemaker, oversees the estate. The vineyards are cultivated using biodynamic methods, with hand harvesting and selection of the finest grapes. Natural yeast fermentation and manual pressing of the grape skins contribute to the unique personality of each wine. Clos des Forets Saint Georges, in particular, is renowned for its rich and complex aromas, solid and powerful on the palate, with ample tannins.
