Gosset Champagne

Gosset Champagne was established as early as 1584 in the village of Ay in the Champagne region. Renowned for its champagne production since the early 18th century, the estate is owned by the Renaud Cointreau family and boasts a history of over 400 years. Back in 1584, before the time of champagne, Pierre Gosset, the mayor and winemaker of the village, started producing wines at the estate, which were even favored by the French royalty. Initially focused on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the estate elevated Ay to the highest level of vineyards when champagne emerged in the 18th century, crafting elegant and finely bubbled champagnes that have been passed down through generations.

The winery's style primarily revolves around Chardonnay, avoiding malolactic fermentation to allow for the acidity in the bottle to develop over a significant period. The wines are aged in the cellars for many years before being released to the market, focusing on quality over quantity. With an annual production of only 1.3 million bottles, significantly less compared to other estates producing tens of millions of bottles each year, Gosset Champagne is indeed a rarity.
