Jacques Selosse

Jacques Selosse estate was founded in 1949 by Jacques Selosse himself. It is located in the Champagne region, specifically in the premier cru vineyard of Avize. In 1974, his son Anselme took over the winemaking and management responsibilities of the estate. The estate spans 7.5 hectares of vineyards, divided into 47 parcels, situated in the premier cru villages of Avize, Cramant, Oger, Les Mesnil-sur-Oger (Chardonnay), and a small portion in the Montagne de Reims with Ay and Ambonnay (premier cru villages) and Mareuil-sur-Ay (grand cru village) for Pinot Noir. The annual production is only 57,000 bottles, which are sold worldwide. Today, Jacques Selosse has become one of the world's leading Champagne houses, and their wines have become highly sought-after treasures.

This achievement can be attributed to Anselme, who is a revolutionary and visionary in the Champagne industry. He changed the traditional methods of the Champagne region by following his own path. Instead of making wine at home, he went to Burgundy, France, to learn winemaking. He was influenced by the top white wine estates there, which inspired him to develop a "Burgundian spirit" and enhance the use of oak barrels, showcasing the terroir of each individual vineyard. The wines are aged in barrels for 8-12 months, but they manage to maintain the essence of the wine itself without being overshadowed by the oak. Anselme also introduced the concept of Lieux-dits, single-vineyard expressions that embody the terroir, earning him the title of "Father of Terroir Champagne." The results were remarkable, and his approach influenced other wineries to follow suit.

The estate is now managed by Anselme's son, Guillaume, whom his father is very proud of for his capabilities. The production volume remains unchanged, and the wines continue to be highly sought-after treasures.
