Shinobu

In Japanese, "Shinobu" means "fortitude," symbolizing the spirit of the samurai code, which, like crafting a fine whisky, requires time, perseverance, and dedication. The master blender, Ken Usami, aims to experiment with blending original whiskies from Japan and around the world to create new flavors. The first batch of "Shinobu Pure Malt Whisky Mizunara Oak Finish" was born from this belief.

The rarity of Mizunara oak lies in the high cost of the raw material. It takes 200 years or more for a Mizunara tree to reach maturity. Japan strictly limits the felling of Mizunara trees younger than 80 years old, resulting in limited suitable wood for coopering. When harmonized with other flavors, Mizunara imparts notes of sandalwood, coconut, spices, Japanese incense, and a rich but not overly sweet taste, creating the renowned "Zen of the East" flavor profile that is cherished both domestically and internationally.
