Talisker

Talisker distillery was established in 1830 by the MacAskill brothers in Carbost Bay on the Isle of Skye in northwest Scotland. The name "Talisker" is derived from the Norse words "Thalas Gair," which means sloping rock. It was once hailed as the "king of drinks" by Robert L. Stevenson, the Scottish novelist, poet, and travel writer. The distillery underwent a reconstruction after a fire in the 1960s and is now owned by Diageo plc.

The natural environment of the Isle of Skye imparts distinctive smoky peat and sea breeze notes to Talisker whiskies. While they possess a robust character, they are not as heavily peated as whiskies from Islay, making Talisker a suitable choice for those new to peated whiskies. Talisker 18 Year Old was even voted the "World's Best Single Malt Whisky" in 2007 by Whisky Magazine.
