A rising star in the world of Champagne making

Romain Hénin is a central figure in the modern "grower champagne" movement, celebrated for bringing radical natural winemaking to the historic Grand Cru terroirs of Aÿ. After training at the prestigious Maison Henri Giraud, Hénin fully took over his family’s estate in 2021, promptly converting all 7.5 to 8 hectares to organic and biodynamic viticulture (Demeter certified). His brand, recently renamed La Bulle Libre ("The Free Bubble"), symbolizes a philosophy of absolute freedom from chemical additives. 

In the vineyard, Hénin practices agroforestry—planting over 100 trees per hectare to restore biodiversity—and uses plant-based infusions like nettle and horsetail instead of synthetic treatments. His winemaking is equally uncompromising: he employs natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts, gravity-fed pressing, and zero added sulfur. All current releases are "zero-zero" (no inputs, no sulfites) and bottled as Brut Nature (zero dosage) to allow the raw energy of the chalky soils to shine. 

Hénin’s wines are characterized by an "electric" energy and purity that have made them some of the most sought-after allocations for natural wine collectors globally.
