Founded in 1893, Kamo City is located in the center of Niigata Prefecture. After joining the National Kyoto Conference, Kamo City also has the title of "Echigo Little Kyoto".

The brewery is currently headed by Yuichi Tanaka, who was born in 1992. Mr. Tanaka had no brewing experience before joining the brewery. One day, he saw a table on TV showing the status of "mash" and it was like he suddenly had an idea. The brewing technology and quality began to improve significantly and rapidly. The young brewers in the brewery are committed to brewing sake that is different from the traditional Niigata Prefecture taste. They filter it through edible charcoal to give the wine a light and spicy taste.
