The winery you're referring to is a young establishment founded by a couple, Chris and Suzaan, in 2010. Their first vintage was produced in 2011. The couple embarked on a journey of wine exploration, traveling to various wine regions worldwide, including Napa Valley, Western Australia, Clare Valley in South Australia, Mosel in Germany, New Zealand, and Saint-Emilion in France.After their extensive travels, they returned to their native South Africa to create their own wine, inspired by their belief in crafting a wine similar to "Argentinian Malbec." They chose to work with the Chenin Blanc grape, as it has a long history in South Africa, dating back to 1656 when it was first planted. They also incorporate Semillon. This combination produces a wine that is full-bodied, vibrant, and retains its acidity.In 2013, just two years after establishing the winery, their wine "Cartology" achieved fourth place in the Decanter Top 50 Wines of the Year, garnering significant attention from renowned wine critics such as Master of Wine Tim Atkin, Wine Advocate, and Jancis Robinson. It has become a standout wine from South Africa, highly praised and admired by wine enthusiasts.
