Bendito Destino

Bendito Destino was founded by a sommelier Terry Kandylis who has won international competitions, becoming the champion in the UK in 2016 and in Greece in 2015. Due to the impact of the 2020 pandemic on the hospitality industry, Terry, originally planning to go to the Canary Islands, ended up visiting Ribera Del Duero. He discovered some of the most historically significant vineyards he had ever seen, but they were abandoned and forgotten. This realization of the potential of these grapevines ignited his dream of making his own wine. Thus, he purchased Canalejas de Peñafiel, initially occupying 2.14 hectares and later expanding to about 8 hectares, with grapevines over 80 years old. Our oldest vine is over 100 years old, and we have seven varieties planted in the traditional "En Vaso" method: Garnacha, Tempranillo, Bobal, Monastrell, Albillo Mayor, Jaen Blanco, and Malvasia Riojana. Terry himself is a big fan of Burgundy wines, so he uses the Burgundian winemaking method, which gives the wine a hint of Burgundy style while still maintaining the sweetness of Spanish wines. We use grapes from vines up to 100 years old to produce the most exquisite and rare wines. Each wine has a production of no more than 4000 bottles, and our single vineyard wines are even more limited, with only a few hundred bottles produced.
