Bessin Tremblay

Bessin-Tremblay, managed by Jean-Claude Bessin-Tremblay and his son Romain, traces its roots back to 1989 when Jean-Claude inherited vineyards in the village of La Chapelle Vaupelteigne in Chablis. Originally an architect, Jean-Claude chose to follow his passion for wine, dedicating himself fully to the family estate.

The domaine boasts exceptional vineyards, including Fôret, Fourchaume, Montmains, and Valmur, forming the foundation for three appellations: Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru.

Since their first harvest in 1992, the estate has restructured its vineyards and refined winemaking techniques, producing wines of outstanding quality. Bessin-Tremblay's wines are renowned for their power and complexity.

A highlight is their two-hectare plot in Valmur, one of Chablis’ most prestigious Grand Cru vineyards. This site includes some of the oldest vines in the world, planted in 1947. Its strategic location—facing northwest on Valmur’s southern slope—ensures optimal grape maturity.

All grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted to avoid damage. The vineyards are plowed, eliminating the need for herbicides. Fermentation lasts at least 18 months in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels. This extended aging gives the wines a distinct structure and remarkable complexity, a true expression of terroir and patience.
