Beychevelle

Château Beychevelle, a prestigious Fourth Growth estate in the St-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, has a history spanning over three centuries. It is known as the "ship" or "dragon-boat" château due to the sailboat depicted on its label. During the reign of King Henry III of France, the Beychevelle estate belonged to the Dukes of Epernon, who served as both naval admirals and governors. Ships passing by the château would lower their sails in a sign of respect to the Duke. This act, known as "baisse voile" in French, gave rise to the name Beychevelle.In the 21st century, Château Beychevelle has shown great determination and success. In addition to consistently receiving high ratings from wine critics, it has also gained popularity in Asian markets. According to R. Parker's reviews, recent vintages of Beychevelle tend to exhibit a refined style reminiscent of wines from the Margaux appellation.
