"Bodegas Aalto winery was founded in 1999 by Mariano Garcia, who was the former chief winemaker of the prestigious Spanish winery Vega Sicilia, and Javier Zaccagnini, the former chairman of the Ribera del Duero Regulatory Board. With Javier's extensive knowledge of the Ribera del Duero region and Mariano's over 30 years of expertise in grape varieties and winemaking processes, they firmly believed that the native Spanish grape variety Tempranillo had the potential to become a globally renowned grape variety.

Currently, Bodegas Aalto is regarded as one of the iconic top wineries. Their wines have not only been repeatedly recognized as the best wines in Spain but have also been selected as one of the "Top 100 Wineries in the World" by French wine critics Michel Berrane and Thierry Dessauve. Aalto 2012 even achieved the prestigious sixth position in Wine Spectator's "Top 100 Wines of 2015" list.
