Bruno Giacosa

Bruno Giacosa is located in the southern and southwestern regions of Piedmont, created by Bruno Giacosa himself. He started working in the wine trade at the age of 15, responsible for sourcing high-quality grapes for his father's wine business. By 1960, he was ready to start his own business and quickly became one of the main producers in the Barbaresco region, on par with Gaja and Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative. The winery has gone through three generations and has always been exceptional, thanks to their careful selection of high-quality grapes and their emphasis on traditional winemaking techniques. The estate covers approximately 20 hectares and grows Nebbiolo d'Alba, Barbera, and Dolcetto. In terms of winemaking, the owner has a classic quote: "For us, a traditional philosophy means that our wines not only express the strong characteristics of the local grape varieties and vines, but also reflect the local terroir conditions. We have always produced single-variety wines. Our winemaking techniques have improved, and we use gentle pressing, crushing, advanced rotary systems, and optimized cold and hot treatment techniques." Tradition and technology do not necessarily contradict each other. When making wine, the grapes are first fermented in steel containers and then transferred to wooden containers for aging, with the aging time varying slightly depending on the wine. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtration. Today, the winery holds a high status and very few can match Bruno Giacosa, known as the "God of Barolo" in Italy, and on par with the status of DRC in Burgundy.
