Cayuse Vineyards

Cayuse Vineyards is one of the revered wineries in the United States, located in Walla Walla, Oregon. Founded in 1997 by a young man, Christophe Baron, the winery currently spans 24 hectares of vineyards cultivated organically. In 2002, it became the first winery in Walla Walla to fully embrace biodynamic practices. Christophe Baron, hailing from a Champagne family, is a talented winemaker with remarkable insight. He discovered vineyards here bearing a striking resemblance to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region in the Rhône Valley, France, characterized by abundant cobblestones. Hence, the first wine was named "Cailloux," signifying the abundance of cobblestones. Cayuse Vineyards is renowned for producing high-quality Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon from its vineyards.

Baron is someone deeply committed to terroir, with a motto of "The focus is on creating honest but distinctive wines." His dedication quickly earned acclaim, with Wine Advocate awarding top scores to his wines. Comparisons between his winery and top Rhône estates like Château Rayas and Chave by wine critics have further solidified his reputation, marking high praise indeed.
