Château de Béru is a historic estate that dates back to the 13th century, occupying a 12-hectare vineyard. Today, it is recognized as one of the elite wineries in the Chablis region. The estate is currently managed by Athénaïs Béru, the 20th-generation heir of the family.

Athénaïs took over the family estate after her father’s passing and the retirement of the vineyard’s long-time growers, who had no successors to continue the collaboration. Fueled by her deep passion for winemaking, she left her career in finance in Paris and moved to the Beaune region to study viticulture and winemaking. After earning her Professional Agricultural Operation Responsibility Certificate, she officially took the reins of the family estate.

Starting in 2006, the estate began practicing biodynamic farming, eliminating the use of chemical fertilizers and employing traditional, sustainable methods like horse plowing and hand harvesting. Athénaïs firmly believes that only healthy, natural grapes can produce exceptional wines.

Unlike most Chablis producers, who typically age their wines in stainless steel tanks, Athénaïs opts for 100% old oak barrels for aging. This approach not only maintains the unique minerality characteristic of the Chablis region but also adds a smooth, rounded texture to her wines. The estate's flagship wine is made from the monopole vineyard Clos de Béru.

In 2003, Athénaïs launched her own brand, Athénaïs, taking her name as inspiration. The first vintage of this brand was in 2005, and it focuses on uncovering the unique terroir of northern Burgundy and the Yonne region. Today, her wines are highly regarded by professional sommeliers and wine enthusiasts alike for their quality, individuality, and respect for the land.
