Chateau de Saint Cosme has a rich history dating back to 1570. Located in Gigondas, the estate has been cultivated by the Barroul family for over fifteen generations. In 1992, the current owner, Louis Barruol, took over the winery. With his winemaking skills, strict control over grape yields, and the use of ancestral Grenache vines, he has taken this 600-year-old estate to new heights. The estate boasts 15 hectares of the oldest vines, with an average age of 60 years.

The winery has been recognized by Robert Parker Jr. in his writings, being hailed as the "rising star of the Southern Rhône" and "Le Pin of Gigondas." It is a consistent favorite of the renowned wine magazine, Wine Spectator, with its wines frequently making the annual Top 100 list. Established in 1490 in the ancient winemaking family of Gigondas in the southern Rhône region of France, the estate produces wines such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte Rôtie, Gigondas, as well as broader Côte du Rhône and CDR-Villages level red wines.

Currently managed by the 14th generation, Louis Barruol, who took over the reins from his father in 1992 when he was less than 30 years old, courageously and decisively took charge of the historic estate. Due to Louis' meticulous winemaking techniques, expertise, and strict control of grape yields, along with the abundance of old Grenache vines in the family vineyards, his wines have gained recognition. In just a short span of ten years, Louis has received numerous accolades, with some even calling him a "genius winemaker" of the new generation in the Rhône region.
