Chateau Giscours

Chateau Giscours is located in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux. It was classified as a third growth estate in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The estate is affectionately known as the "Mermaid Chateau" due to its label featuring a golden mermaid image.

Chateau Giscours faced significant challenges in the past, with inconsistent production quality during the 1980s and early 1990s. In 1995, Eric Jelgersma acquired the estate and implemented strict revitalization policies. Changes were made, including a new winemaker, replanting and conversion plans for the vineyard. The expansion of the cellar, increased number of fermentation vats, and acquisition of new barrels were also part of his efforts. These endeavors have proven successful and today Giscours exudes a high-tech atmosphere. In the 1990s, they were even pioneers in Bordeaux, introducing equipment for reverse osmosis concentration of grape juice.
