Chateau Petrus

Petrus winery is located in the Pomerol appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux, France. The name "Petrus" is written in Latin as "Petrvs" and features an image of Saint Peter, the first disciple of Jesus, holding the keys to heaven. The estate spans nearly 12 hectares of land and was initially an unknown small winery. It wasn't until 1925 when Madame Edmond Loubat acquired the estate from the previous Arnaud family that the illustrious history of the winery began.

Madame Loubat, a renowned businesswoman, worked to elevate the winery's prestige. She first increased the prices and then introduced the product to her wealthy friends, gradually establishing Petrus as a drink of choice in the French high society circles. The brand then made its way to the British royal family, becoming a part of Queen Elizabeth II's engagement cup. Madame Loubat even became a royal guest at the Queen's official wedding ceremony in 1946, solidifying Petrus as a household name in the British upper echelons.

After Madame Loubat's passing in 1961, the Moeuix family carried on her legacy, receiving praises from the Kennedy family in the 1960s. As a result, Petrus is revered as a top-tier winery in the wine industry and stands as one of the most famous wineries in Bordeaux.
