Clos Rougeard is located in the Saumur-Champigny appellation in the Loire Valley, France. It has been passed down through eight generations by the two brothers, Jean-Louis and Bernard Foucault. The estate has been awarded three stars in the prestigious Hachette Wine Guide, placing it among renowned estates like DRC and Leroy.The red wines of Clos Rougeard are predominantly made from 100% Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Franc is the parent grape of Cabernet Sauvignon but has distinct characteristics. The berries are smaller, with thinner skins, and the grape tends to bud earlier. The resulting wines are known for their herbal aromas, red and black fruit notes, floral hints, and a refined and elegant character.
