Col d'Orcia

Col'd Orcia is one of the oldest vineyards in the Montalcino wine region of Italy, dating back to 1890. In 1973, it came under the ownership of a more experienced family. Over time, the estate expanded to encompass 140 hectares of vineyards. The majority of their plantings, around 80%, are dedicated to the production of Brunello, a wine that must be made from 100% Sangiovese grapes according to the regulations of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.

Among their portfolio, Col d'Orcia Poggio al Vento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva stands as their flagship wine. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 350 meters, and "Poggio al Vento" translates to "Hillside Exposed to the Wind." The vines in this vineyard are at least 40 years old and are hand-harvested. The vineyard enjoys a cool and dry climate throughout the year, providing an excellent environment for grape growth.

After harvest, the wine is aged for four years in Slavonian and Allier oak barrels before being bottled. It then undergoes an additional two years of aging before it is officially released. This meticulous aging process contributes to the wine's complexity and refinement.
