Domaine des Ardoisières is located in the eastern part of France, in the Savoie region, near the Swiss border. Known as a high-altitude, niche wine-growing area, Savoie is also a famous skiing destination, attracting a large number of tourists each year. Domaine des Ardoisières stands out as the most iconic winery in the region and a pioneer in promoting natural wines.

The winery was founded by Michel Grisard, who, after graduating, began his winemaking journey at Domaine Prieuré Saint Christophe, where he spent over a decade perfecting biodynamic farming practices. Driven by his deep love for his Savoie homeland, Michel returned with a vision to transform the region into a wine lover's paradise. After much effort, he found suitable land and established Domaine des Ardoisières, aiming to revive the region’s viticulture.

Together with winemaker Brice Omont, Michel took on the ambitious task of reintroducing some of Savoie’s forgotten grape varieties, such as:

Initially seen as a maverick in the wine world, Michel’s dedication and hard work eventually paid off, with his wines gaining recognition in fine dining establishments and earning acclaim from top chefs. Due to the area's limited production, wines from Savoie are rarely exported, as they are often consumed locally, making them a hidden gem for wine enthusiasts.
