Domaine Raspail-Ay is located in Gigondas, in the Rhône Valley of France. Established as early as 1854 by Eugène Raspail, the estate has a rich history and spans 18 hectares of vineyards. Over the years, it has been passed down through five generations, eventually being divided into two separate estates: Domaine Raspail-Ay and Château Raspail.

The current owner, Minnick Aye, a descendant of the Raspail family, is highly respected in Gigondas and serves as the president of the Syndicat of Gigondas. His winemaking techniques are considered some of the finest in the region, setting a benchmark for quality. The vineyards benefit from their natural surroundings, being shielded by the Dentelles de Montmirail, a rugged limestone mountain range that serves as a natural barrier. The region’s hot and dry climate, with approximately 2,800 hours of annual sunshine, provides ideal conditions for grape ripening. This results in red wines with strong tannins that age exceptionally well.

The estate primarily cultivates Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, with an average vine age of 45 years. The grapes are hand-harvested to ensure quality, followed by a thorough selection process. After destemming and crushing, fermentation is carried out using native yeasts, with a maceration period of approximately one month to extract maximum flavor and structure.

The Gigondas red wines produced by Domaine Raspail-Ay are renowned for their ruby red color, full-bodied structure, and complex aromas of stewed fruits and spices. They feature powerful tannins and a long, persistent finish, making them ideal for aging.
