Doyard

Doyard, founded in 1677, is one of the oldest Champagne houses with a rich history. Currently run by the 13th generation, Guillaume Doyard, who is the fourth generation to handle the winemaking and bottling. The estate spans nearly 11 hectares and owns vineyards in prestigious Grand Cru areas such as Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Cramant, Aÿ, and Oger. Their flagship wines mainly consist of Chardonnay with a small amount of Pinot Noir, sourced from vines averaging over 45 years old. Doyard is known for producing high-quality grapes and base wines, supplying around 70% of its annual production to renowned Champagne houses. With a deep understanding of the land, they transitioned to full organic farming practices in 1992, becoming an exemplar of artisanal Champagne production.

The estate holds significant influence, as it was involved in the founding of the most influential Champagne industry committee, the CIVC, initiated by Moët & Chandon and Guillaume Doyard's great-grandfather Morris.

Doyard's wines are highly sought after and predominantly supplied to Michelin-starred restaurants. With limited production, typically ranging from 1,000 to 1,200 bottles per year, these exceptional wines are rare to find in the market. The winemaking philosophy at Doyard emphasizes minimal intervention, avoiding sugar additions whenever possible to preserve the pure terroir-driven flavors and transparent quality. Champagne expert Peter Liem has praised Doyard as one of the leading producers in the Côte des Blancs, showcasing outstanding quality through the practice of natural farming without overpowering intensity. Doyard's Champagnes embody the terroir-driven characteristics of a small grower combined with the stability and quality consistency of a larger house, making it a boutique Champagne estate that should not be overlooked.
