d’issan

Château d'Issan was established in the 16th century and was classified as a Third Growth (Troisième Cru) in the 1855 Bordeaux Wine Official Classification. During that time, in the Haut-Médoc region, only Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Beychevelle, and d'Issan had complete château buildings. As a result, only these five estates were allowed to use the term "Château" in their names.The wines of Château d'Issan have been the preferred choice for grand occasions such as banquets and weddings for numerous European royal families. In the 19th century, the Emperor of Austria once remarked, "Château d'Issan's wine is a tribute to the Emperor and an offering to the Gods."
