Egly Ouriet

Among the distinctive small grower Champagne producers, Egly-Ouriet often shares a mutual exchange of ideas and learning with renowned estates like Jacques Selosse and Larmandier-Bernier. The winemaking philosophy is constantly evolving through these interactions. Egly-Ouriet has received the highest accolades from Robert Parker and major French wine magazines.
Tyson Stelzer has awarded Egly-Ouriet a perfect score, placing them alongside Krug, Salon, and Bollinger as the only small grower Champagne houses to achieve this distinction. In 2014, out of approximately 5,200 Champagne producers in the region, only eight received a three-star rating, with Egly-Ouriet and Jacques Selosse being the only ones among them.
Founded in 1930, Egly-Ouriet took a significant turn when the fourth-generation owner, Francis Egly, took over in 1990. They abandoned the use of chemical fertilizers and adopted the vineyard management methods employed by top Burgundy estates. Embracing organic fertilizers and implementing strict vineyard management practices, Egly-Ouriet ensures optimal grape growth and maturity. They are often the last to harvest in the village, allowing the grapes to achieve perfect sugar levels and phenolic ripeness.
