El Escocés

El Escocés is located in Aragon, Spain, the birthplace of Garnacha. The environment here is highly suitable for growing Garnacha, with both the climate and geography ideal for late-ripening Garnacha. Despite being a prime area, it is often overlooked by many. In this region, wines are mostly produced by cooperatives, with not many renowned winemakers venturing here. However, this results in a higher value for money, as the quality of the wines is high while remaining reasonably priced.

Today's focus, El Escocés, stands out as it is not produced by a cooperative but by an individual who owns vineyards. He is a Scottish man named Norrel Robertson, who possesses extensive experience having worked in various wine regions around the world, both in the Old and New World. After traveling extensively, he decided to settle here in 2003 because of his deep love for the Garnacha of this land and the potential he discovered. Presently, he owns 40 hectares of vineyards where he cultivates several local grape varieties, with a focus on 50-115-year-old Garnacha vines that exhibit great power and depth
