Ferriere logo

Ferriere

The Château Ferrière estate was established in the 18th century by a member of the royal family named Gabriel Ferrière. After more than a century of dedication and perseverance within the family, the estate successfully attained the classification of Third Growth (Troisième Cru) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. At that time, the estate was leased to Château Lascombes, and the majority of grapes from Château Ferrière were used in the production of Château Lascombes wine. As a result, the development of Château Ferrière itself slowed down.

Later on, the estate was acquired by Jacques Merlaut, the owner of Château Chasse-Spleen in Moulis-en-Médoc. After reorganization and adjustments, Château Ferrière regained its momentum and returned to its path of progress. The family also owns two secondary label wines: "Les Remparts de Ferrière" and "La Dame de Ferrière." The current focus is on "Les Remparts de Ferrière." Since 2016, they have been striving for biodynamic certification, aiming to produce wines that embody the traditional and typical Bordeaux style.

Château Ferrière and its associated labels represent the estate's commitment to quality winemaking and the preservation of Bordeaux's winemaking heritage. Through their dedication to biodynamic practices and traditional techniques, they aim to craft wines that showcase the unique characteristics of the Bordeaux region.
