Giaconda Winery is located in the Beechworth wine region of Australia and was founded by mechanical engineer Rick Kinzbrunner. In the early 1970s, Kinzbrunner spent ten years traveling to various wine regions, learning about grape growing and winemaking along the way. After a brief stop in New Zealand, he furthered his wine knowledge by studying at the University of California, where he worked at renowned wineries in Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. He also gained experience working with the prestigious Moueix group, owners of Chateau Petrus, in Europe.
Upon his return to Australia, Kinzbrunner purchased land near the historic Everton Hills Vineyard and released his first vintage in 1987. Rick Kinzbrunner is not only recognized as one of Australia's finest winemakers but also received the title of Winemaker of the Year by Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine in 2003. In July 2006, he was named one of the world's top ten white wine winemakers by Decanter magazine. Giaconda Winery was ranked first among the 25 Best Vineyards by Australian Sommelier Magazine, solidifying its reputation as one of the most important vineyards in Australia.
