Gianni Moscardini is a very young Italian winery, owned by a wine consultant and agronomist, and his wife, a plant biologist. The winery was established in 2004, but the family has been involved in cultivating cereals and olive trees since 1920. The first vintage was produced in 2008. With 13 hectares of vineyards, they have a limited annual production of approximately 50,000 bottles. Located in Tuscany, Italy, the winery is known for its use of rare grape varieties.

The particular wine mentioned, "Operaundici," is named after a concerto and is made from 50% Sangiovese, 25% Teroldego, and 25% Ciliegiolo. It is aged for 18 months in oak barrels for Teroldego and Sangiovese, while Ciliegiolo is aged in concrete. Afterward, it undergoes an additional 12 months of bottle aging before being released. Opening a bottle of this wine and allowing it to breathe for an hour will reveal an unexpectedly delicious Italian wine.
