Glenrothes

The excellence of Glenrothes is attributed to the use of the finest barley from the fertile Speyside region. Through a process of mashing, fermentation, and distillation, followed by maturation in sherry and bourbon oak casks, the whiskey develops its rich and distinctive flavor profile.

Each cask of Glenrothes undergoes rigorous testing and evaluation during the maturation process. Only a small proportion, slightly over two percent of the annual production, is selected to become the Glenrothes Single Malt Whiskey. Unfortunately, in 1992, a devastating fire affected 2,500 casks at the Glenrothes distillery, causing a considerable amount of whiskey to flow into the River Rothes. According to reports at the time, many downstream cows became intoxicated.
