Gloria

Château Gloria is an exceptional estate located in Saint-Julien, Bordeaux. Despite not having an official classification, the quality of its wines rivals many classified growth estates. The reason for its exclusion from the classification system lies in its establishment, which occurred long after the original classification was established in 1855.Henri Martin, who came from a family of coopers, purchased Château Gloria in 1942. He also acquired vineyards from classified growth estates such as Château Gruaud-Larose, Château Talbot, Château Lagrange, and Château Léoville-Barton. By the mid-1960s, he owned a total of 50 hectares of vineyards spread throughout the Saint-Julien appellation. In 1982, Henri Martin acquired the fourth growth estate Château Saint-Pierre, fulfilling his lifelong pursuit of owning a classified growth property.
