Greywacke

Greywacke Winery is one of the renowned wineries in New Zealand, located in the famous Marlborough region. It was founded by celebrated New Zealand winemaker Kevin Judd in 2009. Kevin Judd is considered one of the pioneering winemakers in Marlborough and has had a lifelong career closely connected to New Zealand wine, including being a founding winemaker of Cloudy Bay.

Kevin was born in the UK and grew up in Australia, where he also learned the art of winemaking. In 1983, he moved to New Zealand and became the head winemaker at Cloudy Bay. In 1993, he was hailed as the "father of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc." After 16 years, he finally established his own wine brand, Greywacke Winery. The name "Greywacke" comes from a common rock found in the region's soil, which contains various rich natural minerals that impart a mineral-rich texture and complexity to the wines. Kevin Judd chose this name to reflect the unique character of the wines produced at Greywacke Winery.
