Henri Rebourseau has a history that can be traced back to the late 18th century. The estate has been owned and operated by the Rebourseau family for over two centuries, remaining in their hands without changing ownership. The family owns several of the oldest vineyards located between Gevrey-Chambertin and Vougeot. The earliest recorded abundant harvest from the Rebourseau family vineyards dates back to 1778. Despite the passage of time, the vineyard lands have retained their vitality and continue to produce elegant and robust fruit. This is thanks to the generations of careful stewardship by the family, who intimately understand the characteristics of each vineyard plot and employ specific planting techniques for every vine. They have embraced progress and development while preserving the traditions. In 1980, Jean de Surrel, the current owner, took on the responsibility of protecting the estate from his grandfather Pierre Rebourseau. While honoring traditional techniques, Jean decided to adopt organic farming and biodynamic practices, marking a new chapter in the family's winemaking legacy.
