Hubert Lamy

The Lamy family's history of grape cultivation in Saint Aubin can be traced back to 1640. Hubert, following in the footsteps of his father Jean, learned the art of vineyard management and winemaking. It wasn't until 1973 that the estate was renamed Hubert Lamy, and they owned a modest 8 hectares of vineyards. Olivier Lamy, the current owner and winemaker, underwent training in various winemaking countries and learned about biodynamic viticulture while working at the renowned estate Méo-Camuzet under Jean-Nicolas Méo. He holds high standards for grape quality and yields.In 1995, Olivier returned to the estate and took over the winemaking responsibilities, carrying on the family legacy. What sets Hubert Lamy apart is their unique winemaking approach. They have moved away from the common use of standard-sized barrels (225 liters) and instead use larger oak barrels ranging from 300 to 600 liters for fermentation and aging. After fermentation, the wines are minimally disturbed, with very little stirring of the lees, and they are not filtered or clarified. This approach aims to preserve the natural purity and concentrated flavors of the wines, magnifying the expression of the terroir to the utmost.
