Jean Marie Fourrier

Jean Marie Fourrier took over the estate in 1995, following in the footsteps of his father, Jean Claude Fourrier, and grand-uncle, Fernand Pernot, who founded the winery in 1930. The estate has about 9 hectares of vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, as well as in Chambolle-Musigny and Morey Saint Denis. Some of their notable Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards include "Griotte Chambertin," "Clos Saint Jacques," and "Combe Aux Moines." Jean Marie Fourrier is known for destemming his grapes and fermenting them for 3-4 days in cold maceration at 12 degrees before using only 20% new barrels for aging. As a young man, he worked as a key assistant at the renowned Henri Jayer winery, where he learned the true essence of winemaking. He later sought to further his knowledge and experience by working at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon, where he combined Old and New World winemaking techniques.
