Kay Brothers Amery Wines is a winery founded by Herbert and Frederick Kay in 1890, making it one of the oldest family-owned wineries in McLaren Vale, Australia. Currently, the winery is under the leadership of Colin Kay, a third-generation descendant. The winery has a long-standing tradition of producing red wines using traditional methods, including fermentation in traditional open-top fermenters and aging in small oak barrels.
The grapes used for winemaking come from the Amery vineyard, which has been in the family since 1890 and spans 22 hectares, as well as the neighboring Oliver's Taranga vineyard. The Block 6 Shiraz, produced from vines planted in 1892, is the winery's flagship red wine. Kay Brothers Amery Wines aims to create rich, full-bodied red wines with intense fruit flavors. While Block 6 Shiraz is their flagship wine, the Hillside Shiraz is produced from younger vines using the same winemaking techniques.
