Ki No Bi

"Ki No Bi" is a world-class Japanese craft gin that originates from the distillery in Kyoto, Japan. It is a brand that is well-known among enthusiasts of spirits. The brand was founded in 2014 by three individuals: Noriko Kakuda Croll, David Croll, and Marcin Miller. However, the distillery had been in planning for 20 years prior to its establishment. In 1990, Norik and David were running an import company specializing in Scotch whisky and had a vision to promote Scotch whisky to the Japanese market. They also founded the "Scotch Malt Whisky Association of Japan" to support their passion for whisky. Later, they developed a strong interest in craft gin, with David becoming an industry regulator for gin and actively promoting local craft gin production. Marcin, who had worked as a public relations consultant for various companies such as Ardbeg, Craigellachie, Glenfiddich, and No. 3 Gin, joined the team. The three of them continuously dedicated themselves to their craft, and their launch of "Ki No Bi Dry Gin" received widespread acclaim and important awards. In 2022, it won the gold medal at the Global Gin Masters competition.
"Ki No Bi" is a small-batch craft gin, and the flagship "Ki No Bi Dry Gin" alone is made from a selection of 11 botanicals. These include juniper berries, orris root, hinoki wood chips, yuzu, lemon, gyokuro green tea, sansho pepper, sansho bud leaves, ginger, red shiso, and shanzhu fruit. Another expression called "Sei" represents strength and also features 11 botanicals. It undergoes six separate distillations to create distinct flavors. The alcohol content of "Sei" is over 10% higher than the Dry Gin version, making it more robust and rich. However, it still maintains the classic elegance and clean, smooth taste. The "Sei" expression offers greater complexity. Ki No Bi is definitely a must-try for spirits enthusiasts.
