Kistler

Kistler Winery has achieved great recognition, with mentions in Neil Beckett's "1001 Wines You Must Try Before You Die" and reviews in The New York Times wine column. It is also recognized as one of the "World's Greatest Estates" by Robert Parker. Established in 1991 and based in Sonoma, California, the winery's founder, Steve Kistler, made a name for himself in the wine industry after working at the renowned Ridge Vineyards. Kistler Winery has become particularly renowned for its Chardonnay.

The winery's white wines draw inspiration from Burgundy, France. The grapes are whole-cluster pressed, and both indigenous and cultured yeasts are used for fermentation in barrels. During fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the lees, and the malolactic fermentation is slow and prolonged. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, with approximately half of the barrels being new. Kistler wines are not filtered or fined, allowing them to showcase their exceptional aging potential.

In its early years, Kistler wines were known for their concentrated and focused flavors, along with ripe and abundant fruit aromas. This reputation has solidified Kistler Winery as a representative of California white wines.
