Chateau La Mission Haut Brion

The rare gem "La Mission Haut Brion" is like a Pomerol in its pursuit of perfect quality in a small garage wine style. When discussing it, many people mistakenly think it is the "Haut Brion" among the "five greats" because in 1983, the owner of the "Domaine Clarence Dillon," which owns Haut Brion, bought the star of today. The estate, located just across the street, finally reunited officially.

The history of the estate can be traced back to the 16th century when it was initially established by the Lestonnac family. In 1682, the Jesuit monks took over the estate and began planting grapes, giving the estate its name. The grape varieties planted are 45.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43.8% Merlot, and 10.4% Cabernet Franc. While the proportions may seem elegant, the wines from outstanding vintages are very full-bodied and powerful. Unlike other high-volume Bordeaux estates, La Mission Haut Brion produces only about 6,000 cases per year. Today, it is also one of the 156 greatest estates in the world.
