The estate is one of the finest independent wineries in the Champagne region. It was co-founded by Philippe Larmandier and Elisabeth Bernier, and later taken over by their son Pierre Larmandier. Since 1992, the estate has been practicing biodynamic viticulture, and in 2004, it became one of the very few and highly esteemed Champagne houses to receive biodynamic certification.

Located in the Côte des Blancs area of the Champagne region, the estate encompasses 15 hectares of vineyards. Apart from Vertus, which is classified as a premier cru vineyard, the rest are classified as grand cru vineyards, including Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, Avize, and others. The estate's dedication to quality and biodynamic practices has earned them recognition and accolades in the Champagne industry.
